Care for the products

Care for Polymer Products (Horns):
Store the horn in a dry, cool and dark place. Clean with a moist, clean towel. Do not clean with a wet towel. Carefully blot dry. Do not rub the horns.
Avoid extreme heat. This can lead to irreparable damage. Extreme heat can be categorised as a curling iron, hair dryer, contact with a heater, prolonged exposure to extreme sun (45 degrees Celsius or more) or leaving it in a hot car and such.
The horns are hollow and must therefore never be squashed into a box or luggage. Bending the horns can permanently damage them beyond repair. It is best to store them in a separate box.  Transport rolled in a scrap cloth individually or in paper so avoid the paint rubbing off, and best placed in a box to avoid the items getting squashed.

Applying the horns: Clean skin of sweat and/or makeup before applying and make sure the skin is dry. Apply an even coat of skin adhesive on the grey foam base. If the mastix is very liquid, let air-dry for a bit until your finger sticks quite well to it, or immediately press to skin and hold for 10 minutes. Press to the skin and hold it while letting it dry for about 5 minutes. Heavier horns need longer, smaller ones need less time. Make sure not to glue on hair. The first time glueing the horns on might take longer. After use: Pull off gently. Remove remaining adhesive from the skin with adhesive remover, make-up remover or soap. Leave the adhesive on the horns, as it aids the glueing process next time, or scrape off excess spirit gum build-up gently with your fingers. This way, the horns will stick progressively easier. Do not use cleaning agents on the base of the horns as it will possibly damage the foam and paint.

Care for Latex and Foam Products (Horns or Scales):
Store the tail in a dark, dry place that is cool. Clean with a moist, clean towel. Do not clean with a wet towel. Carefully blot dry.  Regularly spray the latex with silicon/latex spray to keep it from getting dried out and breaking, and to help prevent latex rot.
Caution: Avoid extreme heat. This can lead to irreparable damage. Extreme heat can be categorized as a curling iron, hair dryer, contact with a heater, prolonged exposure to extreme sun (45 degrees Celsius or more) or leaving it in a hot car.
If the item has airbrushed or hand painted marking, this paint might fade over time due to brushing and UV light. Airbrushed or hand-painted markings can be re-applied for a small sum by Custom Costumes, for which the shipping costs are for the client.

Care for Faux Fur and Felt Products (Ears and Tails and moth antennae):
Store the item in a dark, dry place, preferably hanging freely. Make sure the fur is smoothed before storing, as crooked hairs can become permanently bent after a while when stored improperly. Ears can also be hung upside down for best result.
For the ears and tails: Only comb the fur with a comb and do this as little as possible. Never wash this fur, as it might cause the hand-dyed parts to fade. If wet, dry in open air while the fur is hanging freely. Never put the fur in a washer or dryer! Make sure the tails never get soaked, as it will take several weeks to dry them fully and mildew might form in the inner core of the filling. If wet, hang the tail in a warm room, minimally 1 meter away from any heating element and let dry for 2 weeks minimum.
For the moth antennae: The fur must never be combed or get wet! Always store the antennae in a dry spot with the hairs straightened. Getting them wet will cause the hairs to permanently sag and lose their defined shape.
If the item has airbrushed or hand painted marking, this paint might fade over time due to brushing and UV light. Airbrushed or hand-painted markings can be re-applied for a small sum by Custom Costumes, for which the shipping costs are for the client.

Care for Faux Leather products:
Store in a dark, cool place preferably hanging freely to avoid creases. Creases after transport can be reduced by using a hair dryer on medium heat setting and carefully warming the crease. Keep moving the hairdryer around and keep 10cm distance to avoid overheating or melting. Warming the faux leather should only take seconds. Once warm, hang the tail in the correct model and let cool.
Caution: Avoid extreme heat. This can lead to irreparable damage. Extreme heat can be categorized as a curling iron, hair dryer in close unmoving proximity, contact with a space heater ect. Only wash with a damp cloth, never put the item in the washing machine or dryer.
If the item has airbrushed or hand painted marking, this paint might fade over time due to brushing and UV light. Airbrushed or hand-painted markings can be re-applied for a small sum by Custom Costumes, for which the shipping costs are for the client.
